What we do

Developing Teams

Team Formation. Team Performance. Conflict Resolution.

Team Formation

The team is the most important unit in any organisation. It is how work gets done.

High performing teams balance individual skills with the power of the group. The key to this work is to recognise that we all play different roles on teams.

At River, we call this “strategic diversity.” We provide a framework and toolset that helps teams form and function more effectively.

We help strengthen the connection between team members so that they can more easily access collective contribution and let individual performance shine.

Team Performance

Great teams grow. They are able to take on new levels of performance, evolving to find new ways of working to match the complexities of the challenge. Sometimes a team makes this transition to the next level seamlessly, other times it gets stuck.

At River, we know how to intervene to learn what is going on. Our interventions break unhelpful behaviour patterns and strengthen helpful ones.

We specialise in helping senior executive teams to operate in a position of productive tension. They learn how to manage high stakes, high pressure conversations in a way that unlocks performance.

Conflict Resolution

High stakes can quickly descend into conflict. When this happens, the team needs a neutral mediator able to help a team reach productive reconciliation.

At River, we mediate a team’s challenges and find a shared way forward. We make it possible to have candid conversations, lowering the tension to make it possible for the team to resolve the issues blocking its performance.

This is high-skill work that we undertake in many settings for senior leadership teams in global firms. We use our deep understanding of psychology to reveal the roots of conflict and the unspoken assumptions that feed it.
