What we do
Leadership Development
At River, we believe the starting point to leadership is understanding yourself. If you want to lead, you need to know what it means to be led by you. Much of our behaviour is unconscious habit.
Learning starts with awareness. We help uncover what is unconscious so that people have a choice about what to stop, start, and continue doing.
Our work leaves people better able to manage interpersonal dynamics, making them more effective at leading up, down, and across organisations. We build skills to navigate contentious topics, solve problems, and overcome barriers to change.
Leadership happens between people. We use conversations to manage these interactions. The better we are at managing them, the more likely we are to achieve our leadership aims.
Talking is easy until there is pressure. Under high stakes, our skills can break down. Our unconscious takes over, opening a gap between what we think and what we say. We work with leaders to build conversation skills that survive under pressure.
We have trained thousands of people in the art of effective conversation. This helps leaders maintain focus under pressure, improve listening, and helps the people they lead better understand what they need them to do.
Leadership Conversations
Our executive coaching is like personalised executive education blended with deep psychological work. We have a healthy obsession about our coaching enabling meaningful and sustained improvements on leadership effectiveness.
Whatever the challenge faced, or change needed, our executive coaching explores how the unconscious of the leader drives their behaviour, and how to navigate the hidden forces of group dynamics and organisational cultures.
We train leaders in the art of reading the room. Our guidance ensures that you not only have an awareness of the attitudes and drivers in yourself, but also in others. We teach you how to read the psychological patterns in the room, so you can assess others’ abilities and motives and intervene skilfully. We help you strengthen your insight to help you navigate competing agendas and identify and enrol allies.
